Requirements to Register
- You may register to vote at 17 1/2 years of age, but you must be 18 by Election Day
- You must be a citizen of the United States
- You must be a resident of Perry County
How to Register to Vote
To register to vote in Perry County, residents must complete a voter registration application. This can be done online, by mail, or in-person.
Voter Registration Deadlines
If you move from one county in Missouri to another county in Missouri, you must register with your new county of residence. You must complete a new voter registration application prior to the registration deadline which is 5 pm on the 4th Wednesday prior to the election date. You can register to vote by submitting a new voter registration application online, by mail, or in-person. If you move within Perry County, you are permitted to change your registration address any time up to or on Election Day.

Register to Vote by Mail
You can register to vote by mail by completing a post card voter registration application. A mail-in application can be obtained online through the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office webpage or by requesting an application from the County Clerk’s Office by calling (573)547-4242.
Register to Vote In-Person
You can register in person at one of the following locations:

Residents can also complete applications at a designated state agency while obtaining services from the agency. Examples of state agencies providing registration applications to their clients include Division of Family Services, Military Recruitment, or WIC.
Identification Requirements
When registering in person at the County Clerk’s Office, applicants shall identify themselves by presenting a copy of a birth certificate, a Native American tribal document, other proof of United States citizenship, a valid Missouri driver’s license or other form of personal identification at the time of registration (RSMo. 115.135.2).
Registration Confirmation
Within 10 days of receiving your registration, the County Clerk’s Office will mail verification that your registration has been received and processed. If you do not receive verification, you should contact the County Clerk’s Office at (573)547-4242. If your identification has been verified, you will receive your voter identification card. If your identification has not been verified, you will receive a letter informing you that you are registered to vote and that your voter identification card will be sent to you after you present your identification to the County Clerk’s Office or vote for the first time.
Address Changes
If you have moved to a different address within the same county, you are permitted to change your registration address any time up to or on Election Day. It is recommended that you notify the County Clerk’s Office of any address change prior to Election Day in order to determine your new assigned polling place. Address changes must be requested in writing. You may update your address and/or name on your voter registration record by submitting a new voter registration application online, by mail, or in-person (see above). The County Clerk’s Office will enter the change on your record and issue you a new voter identification card. Voters are allowed to vote at one election under their old name without changing their voter registration after notifying the election judges of the name change.
Replacement Voter Registration Card
A registered voter may contact the County Clerk’s Office to request a new voter identification card. Your voter identification card contains your polling location and address as well as the districts in which you are entitled to vote. Voters must present an acceptable form of identification to vote.
